Those who know and follow me closely know that I don’t use many supplements. I’m a firm believer in making your food work for you. But... there’s a few exceptions.
So why do I use BCAAs?? (3 reasons)
Number 1: “The Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition found that individuals were able to maintain lean body mass when supplementing with BCAAs during a calorie-restricted diet.”
I don’t compete anymore (except with myself) but it’s still important for me and my mental health to continue to maintain (ideally improve) my physique as I get older. ———————————————
Number 2: “The Journal of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness found that BCAA supplementation can cut down on muscle damage related to endurance exercise. Another 2008 paper published in the same journal noted that BCAA supplementation could promote muscle recovery while helping regulate the immune system.”
Again, those of you who know me know that the gym is my home away from home and I love lifting heavy things that don’t need to be lifted lol. So it’s important that I’m physically able to perform day in and day out; meaning minimal damage and optimal recovery times are essential to my lifestyle.
Number 3: #PERFORMANCE “A 2011 study published in the ‘Journal of Sports Medicine Physical Fitness’ found that the branched chain amino acid supplements provided superior resistance to fatigue when compared to a placebo, in addition to increased fat burning. A 1996 paper published in ‘Nutrition’ noted that an increased supply of branched chain amino acids during exercise helped preserve stored muscle energy.”
Lift. ALL. The weights. ♂️ lol
